Sunrise above the Sinai as viewed from the summit of Mt. Sinai, the second highest mountain
on the Sinai Peninsula (Gebel Katrina, just to the south is the highest). Thousands of
pilgrims a year climb this peak or sleep on top of the mountain in preparation for this
most beautiful moment. Though there is conjecture as to whether or not this is truly the
mountain where God revealed the Ten Commandments to Moses, the area is sacred to followers
of all three monotheisitc religions.
