Rock Hyrax near Mt. Sinai. This shot was actually taken through some wire around an enclosure where a number of these animals were being kept by some Jeballiya Bedouin. Rock Hyraxes are actually most closely related to elephants(!) and are found throughout the deserts of the Middle East and parts of Africa. Herbivores and diurnal, they live among the rocks and are excellent climbers and jumpers.
