Doug Baum – Texas Camel Corps – What an incredible day! Getting the opportunity to share our camels at the Alamo today is like a dream come true. Rudi Rodriguez of www.texastejano.com deserves our most heartfelt thanks for providing us this wonderful experience. Thanks also to Charles Lara with ALMA, both these gentlemen made all of us and the camels feel truly welcome in San Antonio today. I was asked to make remarks about the camel’s relationship to the Alamo and almost lost my composure when mentioning what an honor it was to be on such hallowed ground. We received such a warm response from the crowd, everyone really seemed to recognize the history and importance associated with our visit. After about an hour and a half, we loaded the camels back up and headed out of the city. With the threat of rain we elected to go back to the La Vernia camp where shelter was available for both camels and people. The aforementioned texastejano.com has invited us to be a part of a documentary film tomorrow, so we will be trailoring from this point directly to Polly’s Chapel. For anyone who would like to see the camels on the road, the next opportunity will be Friday on HWY 16 as we enter Bandera. Big thanks go out to Larry and Merri Keeble of www.lovethyneighboroutreach.org for the bread and sweets tonight.
Jim Hale – American Camel Company – It was an emotionally stirring sight to see the camels in all their splendor in front of the most historic place in Texas.
Gil T. Hernandez – San Antonio, Texas – I like to hear the highway sounds. I don’t think that I’ll ever settle down. I can’t change and it’s a sin, I hope St. Peter’s going to let me in.
Frank Gonzales – Smiley, Texas – Great day, great timing, the kids were great. Everything was dead on. Right now my head is filled with so many ideas, so much information. I’m like a kid in a candy store I can’t wait to see what lies ahead.
Ernest Geigenmiller – San Antonio, Texas – Early rise, ready to go, timing was great. We hit the spot at the time we were supposed to, everything was perfect. The people were great Mr. Rodriguez did a marvelous job introducing Doug and the rest of the crew and we just marched out.
