May 28, 2006

Doug Baum – Texas Camel Corps – I’m looking forward to hitting the trail tomorrow. We’ve sure met some nice folks here in Nixon. Frank's ex-brother-in-law Ron has been feeding us well and today I reconditioned some old leather halters with neats foot oil to busy myself. We’ll be trailering to Pandora, Texas and unloading north of there about two and a half miles up on FM 1107. It’s exciting to be getting closer to San Antonio and I can’t wait to get the camels saddled up.

Jim Hale – American Camel Company – The John D. Hale Band and Katemcy Rocks!

Gil T. Hernandez – San Antonio, Texas – Life at it’s best, no place but Texas.

Ernest Geigenmiller – San Antonio, Texas - I’ll tell you what, we rested for today for a change. We’ll leave some more tracks tomorrow. Hasta al fin!

Frank Gonzales – Smiley, Texas – Another day on a magnificent journey. The road long before us, we travel with those from the past and I sit there with my new family and look forward to the weeks end with great sadness but with a bright future ahead.

Paisley Mathis – Venus, Texas – I helped brush the camels.

John Caskey – Venus, Texas – The real fun starts tomorrow.

Terri Mathis – Venus, Texas – I need a nap. An inordinate amount of love and a nap...but mostly the nap.

Kyle Mathis – Venus, Texas – Viva Las Zapatistas.

Terri Jo Ryan – Waco Tribune & Herald – Day of rest?! Hell! I’ve been grooming camels all day.
